Pre-Production at K2 Logistics & Creative Planning

Video Pre-Production

Why Pre-Production Comes First

Pre-production is where every decision gets made before it costs time or money on set. By the time a K2 production begins — whether that’s a video shoot, a photography session, or a corporate conference — every logistical decision has been made, every creative decision is set, and every contingency has been planned. Most production companies treat pre-production as a formality. K2 treats it as the work. The questions K2 asks before production day are the ones that create calm, creative shoot days and events that run exactly the way they should.

Creative Pre-Production

On the creative side, K2’s senior directors manage scripting, storyboarding, shot lists, and talent alignment. Every creative decision — from concept to camera angle — is resolved before the first call time. When the shoot day arrives, the director isn’t making it up. They’re executing a plan that already reflects the client’s vision. That preparation is what gives the crew room to find something great instead of solving problems.

Logistics & Planning

On the logistics side, K2’s senior producers manage scheduling, budgeting, crew coordination, location planning, site walks, vendor management, and contingency planning — all of it worked through weeks before anything goes live. Every variable that could disrupt production day is identified and resolved in advance. Talent logistics, travel, permits, equipment, call sheets: nothing waits until the week of. When the day arrives, the plan is already in place and the team is already ready.

AV Event Pre-Production

For AV events — corporate conferences, investor meetings, annual corporate meetings — pre-production includes full technical planning: sound system design, stage layout, lighting plots, projection and display specs, and contingency planning for live execution. The AV producer assigned to the event manages all pre-production logistics from the first call through load-in.
